Flat walls make everything else look better
Plastering is the trade that quietly decides how expensive a room looks. Wavy walls and visible trowel lines show through every coat of paint you'll ever put on them, and no decorator can fix that afterwards.
- Skimming. Fresh skim over existing plaster or plasterboard for a smooth, paint-ready finish.
- Re-plastering. Hacking off blown or hollow plaster back to brick and starting again.
- Boarding. Plasterboarding walls and ceilings, dot-and-dab or on battens.
- Patch repairs. Making good after electrics, plumbing, removed chimney breasts or damp works.

Questions
Before you call
How long before I can paint it?
Usually five to seven days for a standard skim, longer in cold or damp weather or on a re-plastered wall. Fresh plaster needs to go from dark brown to a uniform pale pink all over. Painting too early traps moisture and causes flaking.
Do I need a mist coat first?
Yes. New plaster must be sealed with a watered-down emulsion mist coat before normal paint, or the paint will peel. We can include decoration in the quote if you'd rather not do it.
Can you skim over artex?
Often yes, if it's sound and the pattern isn't too heavy. Artex applied before around 2000 may contain asbestos — we won't sand or scrape it, and we'll advise a test if there's any doubt.
Will it be very messy?
Plastering is wet and dusty by nature, but it's containable. We sheet floors, seal doorways, and remove waste. You'll get dust; you shouldn't get chaos.
My walls are damp — can you just re-plaster?
Not without fixing the cause. Plastering over damp gives you a fresh wall that fails within a year. We'll diagnose the source first — often a plumbing leak, failed pointing or blocked airbrick — and quote the real fix.
