Before you call
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. Depending on the work you'll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, or an EICR. Keep it — you'll need it when you sell, let or insure the property.
How often does a rental property need an EICR?
At least every five years for private rented homes in England, and at the change of tenancy if the existing report has expired. We can put your portfolio on a schedule so nothing lapses.
My report came back with C1 and C2 codes. What now?
C1 means danger present and needs immediate attention; C2 is potentially dangerous and must be remedied. We'll quote the remedial works line by line so you can see exactly what each code costs to clear.
Can you work while the property is occupied?
Usually yes. Larger rewires are staged circuit by circuit so you're never without power overnight. We'll agree the sequence with you before starting.
Do you do small jobs, like an extra socket?
Happily. Small electrical jobs often get bundled into a half-day visit alongside other work — usually the cheapest way to clear a list.
