What we cover

The floor is only as good as what's under it

Almost every failed floor we're called out to — lifting boards, cracked grout, hollow-sounding tiles — failed because of the subfloor, not the finish. We level, dry-check and prepare before a single board or tile is laid.

  • Engineered & solid wood. Glued, floated or secret-nailed, with proper expansion gaps.
  • LVT & laminate. Including herringbone and plank patterns, set out from the room centre.
  • Carpet & underlay. Uplift of the old, gripper, underlay and fitting.
  • Preparation. Latex levelling compound, plywood overlay, screed repair and damp-proof membranes.
  • Tiling. Wall and floor tiles, large format, mosaic, natural stone and porcelain.
  • Outside. Patios, paving, flagging and porcelain paving on the correct base.

Common jobs

What people usually call us about

Engineered oak flooring

Acclimatised first, then laid with the right expansion gap and beading.

Herringbone & parquet

Set out from a centre line so the pattern lands right at every wall.

Bouncy or uneven floors

Levelled or overlaid before the new floor goes anywhere near it.

Bathroom floor tiling

Tanked and waterproofed first — the step most people skip.

Cracked or hollow tiles

Lifted, the cause diagnosed and the area relaid properly.

Patios & porcelain paving

Laid on a full mortar bed with falls that actually drain.

Questions

Before you call

Do I need to acclimatise wood flooring?

Yes — engineered and solid wood need to sit in the room for several days before fitting so they reach the room's humidity. We'll deliver early and tell you when it's ready. Fitting straight off the van is how you get gaps in February.

Can you lay a new floor over the existing one?

Sometimes. It depends on what's underneath, how level it is, and whether it will raise the floor past the doors and skirting. We'll check and tell you honestly which is the better value option.

How long will a room take?

A typical reception room is one day including preparation. Add a day if the subfloor needs levelling or plywood overlay. Tiling takes longer because of adhesive and grout curing times.

Do you move furniture?

We'll move the large items as part of the job. Please clear smaller belongings, breakables and anything valuable beforehand.

Can you match existing tiles?

We'll try, but discontinued ranges are often impossible to match exactly. Where a repair would look obviously patched, we'll say so and price relaying the whole area instead.
